How do I find public domain works is a common business question. Before we answer how to find public domain books, it helps to know how copyright laws work. Check your country’s laws before downloading.

Search Engines and Niche Directories

Typing “How do I find public domain books?” in search engines will direct you to certain sites. It can be applied when you have no leads in  niche. Search for specific subjects like public domain poetry or music books.  Niche search engines are better than standard search engines because you can search by subject. The only draw back is niche search directories can’t give the scope of information and you cold overlook some  public domain books.

Wikipedia is an online article site edited by readers. Most anyone can add or write articles. They also have a list of public domain  sources.

Internet Archive.org is  a digital source of library sites. Not only can you find public domain books but recordings and video. Some of the books are published after 1923 which makes it even a greater source. Search any or all file extensions.
